How LeanOS works.
Five-minute read. Skip ahead to the section you need.
Quick start (5 minutes)
- Sign in with your email + password (or magic link).
- Open Settings → People, add your shift captains and area owners. Their names show up in every dropdown.
- On Home → Factory map, tap + New zone to add your real plant areas. The sample zone we created on signup can be renamed or deleted from the zone-edit panel.
- Sidebar → Audit → pick a zone → walk it with your phone, capturing photos.
- Submit the audit → see your auto-score → tap Plan the defects to assign owners and dates.
Install LeanOS on your Android phone
LeanOS is a Progressive Web App. It installs on Android in two taps — no Play Store download yet, but it behaves like a real app (own icon, full-screen, works offline-tolerant).
Method 1 — Chrome banner (easiest)
- Open
leanos-taupe.vercel.appin Chrome on Android. - After signing in, you'll see a small Install LeanOS banner at the bottom of the page — tap Install.
- The app icon lands on your home screen. Tap it to open full-screen, no browser bar.
Method 2 — Chrome menu (always works)
- Open the site in Chrome.
- Tap the ⋮ menu (top-right) → Install app (or Add to Home screen on older Android).
- Confirm. Done.
Method 3 — On iPhone (Safari)
- Open the site in Safari (must be Safari, not Chrome).
- Tap Share → Add to Home Screen → Add.
Walk-and-Capture audit
From Audit in the sidebar:
- Pick the zone you're about to walk. Pick yourself as the auditor — you'll be credited on every defect you capture.
- Tap the orange 📷 Capture button, snap a photo. AI returns 0–3 defect suggestions for that frame.
- For each suggestion: Keep (becomes a defect) or Ignore (dismissed). If AI saw nothing, you can type your own observation.
- Tap Finish when done. Edit descriptions on the review screen, then Submit audit.
- You'll land on a result page with your score and reasons (per S category, including time-decayed Sustain and Standardize).
Defect lifecycle
Every defect moves through three stages on the Defect Board.
- Open — just captured. Tap Plan it to assign one of 7 defect types (Safety, Quality, SOC, HTR, Unnecessary part, Lack of basic condition, Minor), pick an owner, and set a due date.
- Planned — categorized + scheduled. The card shows a countdown; overdue or due-soon items get a colored left border. Tap Mark complete to upload an after-photo and credit the fixer.
- Completed — fixed and proven. Before/after thumbnails appear on the card and on the Live Wins feed.
How the score is calculated
Each S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) starts at 5/5. Defects in that category dock points by severity:
- High severity defect → −2
- Medium severity defect → −1
- Low severity defect → −0.5
Sustain additionally degrades by audit cadence: no audit in 14+ days = −1, 30+ days = −2. Standardize degrades when the gold standard hasn't been updated in 90+ days, or when no standard exists at all (−1). Floors at 1, ceiling at 5.
Overall = average of the 5 S scores, computed automatically by the database.
Leaderboard + points
Two side-by-side rankings — top auditors, top fixers.
- +1 per defect raised (auditor)
- +1 bonus per high-severity defect raised
- +3 per defect completed on-time (fixer)
- −1 per defect completed overdue (fixer)
- −5 per repeat defect — penalty falls on the prior fixer
Healthy competition: catching safety items pays double, and a fix that holds for 60+ days never gets penalized.
Customizing your workspace
- Brand: Settings → upload logo, set workspace name, optional tagline. Shown in the sidebar header and Home hero.
- People: Settings → Add / edit / remove auditors and area owners. Used in every dropdown.
- Zones: Home → New zone, or open any zone → Edit to rename, change owner, or delete (with all its audits and defects).
- Gold standard: On a zone page, tap Create / Edit next to the standard. Type one line per S. The standard is what AI scores against and what auditors compare to in real life.
Troubleshooting
- Audit submit fails: usually the auditor in your browser cache was deleted. Tap "Change area or auditor" at the top of the walk screen and re-pick.
- Logo doesn't show: Settings → re-upload. Logos are stored on your Supabase project.
- Photos look pixelated: we compress to ~250 KB WebP for performance. The original lives on Storage if you need the larger file.
- HEIC photos from iPhone: automatically converted and compressed during upload — should just work.
